SBS Studios Wins Best of Show at 2010 ADDY® Awards

By Shane Santiago

It was a roarin’ good time for SBS Studios at the 2010 ADDY® Awards in Jacksonville.  The gala featured a 1920’s theme, titled “Spirit of the ADDYs®,” complete with a secret hideout, and attendees dressed in full gangster and flapper garb.  The ADDY® Awards recognize the best advertising work from agencies at the local, regional and national levels, and the Jacksonville show featured work from several of the area’s top shops.  Categories spanned the gamut of media from print, television, out of home, packaging, student entries and interactive.

It was the interactive categories that SBS Studios had an opportunity to shine.  The digital creative agency took home four awards — two Gold, one Silver and Best of Show, Electronic.  The winning pieces were:

  • The Maw Web Site – Gold ADDY® Award and Best of Show – Electronic – Interactive Media: Web Sites, Consumer HTML/Other – Products
  • 2009 National Day Widget – Silver ADDY® Award – Interactive Media: Online, Banners/Pop-ups/Screensavers
  • SBS Studios Holiday Card: Pimp My Hippo – Gold ADDY® Award – Advertising Industry Self-Promotion: Creative Services and Industry Suppliers – Interactive

“We’re ecstatic,” said SBS President and Chief Creative Officer Shane Santiago. “It’s really cool to be recognized among so many other incredible pieces of work and hugely talented agencies.”  Santiago then went on to congratulate all the other agencies and students who were honored. And while the creatives at SBS Studios are grateful for the recognition, they were especially humbled by a unique aspect of the work being recognized.

“A lot of times, winning work has the advantage of working with brands that traditionally carry a bit of cachè, whether they’re big in the local community, or a brand that’s easily recognized by the general mass audience,” Santiago explained.  ”And while we certainly have the advantage of working with some of those types of clients, it’s cool that the winning work came from relatively smaller brands in that traditional sense.  So we feel that those pieces had to work that much harder to be on the same level as those other campaigns.”

After the awards ceremony, the SBS Studios team joined the other area advertising industry professionals and students back at “Bugsy’sHideout” to celebrate and end the night that was the bee’s knees!  Check out photos from the night at the SBS Studios Flickr page.
